Maya XXL Mexican Hammock "Alebrije 2"
Authentic Mexican Hammock, 100% Nylon Net
The story of this hammock is a bit unusual. A new artisan, who was tasked with weaving our Queen Maya XXL "Alebrije" model, apologized for an error, explaining that he hadn't followed the color code for this model. Quite embarrassed, he sent us photos. Imagine his surprise then to learn that he had, without intending to, participated in the creation of a new model: the Queen Maya XXL "Alebrije 2".

If you're looking for a truly exceptional hammock, you've come to the right place! Made with an exceptional weaving technique and featuring spectacular colors, this durable Mexican hammock stands out for its absolute comfort, but it's much more than that. It is the result of centuries of Mexican craftsmanship and the tradition of hammocks in Latin America.
A Cultural Heritage Woven into Every Thread
What makes the QUEEN MAYA unique are its woven net arms. Skillfully woven artisanal attachments make them not only visually captivating but also incredibly strong. Each QUEEN MAYA hammock requires between ten and fifteen days of meticulous work, reflecting our artisans' commitment to perpetuating an ancient art.
An Extra Comfortable XXL Hammock
With an impressive width of 2.20m, this hammock offers ample space to lie down lengthwise or widthwise. Designed to comfortably accommodate 2 to 3 people, the QUEEN MAYA is reinforced with an extra amount of thread in its fabric, making the hammock bed even softer and more adaptable to various situations. Mexican Craftsmanship at the Heart of Every Mesh
Our Mexican hammocks, like the QUEEN MAYA, are the fruit of a tradition preserved for centuries. Handcrafted in the Chiapas region, in southern Mexico, they are the result of the hard work of four artisan families. This ancestral technique has been passed down from generation to generation, and it is imbued with the history of the region. Formerly, the state of Chiapas was an area of Ixtle and Henequen production, plants that were used to make the first hammocks.
Uncompromising Durability with 100% Nylon
The QUEEN MAYA is made from 100% nylon, the same material used in fishing nets. This means it can withstand extreme weather conditions, whether freezing, rain, or sun, making it the ideal choice for year-round outdoor use. While robust, we recommend storing it sheltered after use to ensure its longevity.
The Mexican Nylon Hammock: The Best Companion for the European Summer
For many Europeans, the Mexican Nylon Hammock is the essential choice for summer. Unlike cotton, which can deteriorate under prolonged exposure to sun and rain, nylon offers increased durability while maintaining an almost identical level of comfort. In southern Mexico, where temperatures are hot almost all year round, the hammock is used daily as an alternative to a bed, thanks to the air circulation offered by its mesh, a perfect solution against the heat. Distance Between the Ground and the Hammock
This is a recurring question from our customers. Indeed, the height of the hammock is also a crucial element to ensure comfortable use. A recommended height is generally about 50 cm when empty, between the ground and the bottom of the hammock. This allows you to sit and get out of the hammock gracefully and easily. The Mexican Hammock: An Expandable Net Hammock
Don't forget that when you lie inside the hammock, it can stretch by about 15 cm. This will also depend on the fabric used, the elasticity of the ropes, and your weight, of course. It is therefore essential to consider this point when setting it up. To learn more: The 5 good reasons to choose a Mexican hammock
Did you know?
Although some homes are modernizing and starting to change, traditional homes have always been full of hammocks: in the living room, in the bedrooms, on the terrace, in the garage, and even in the kitchen. Mexicans often say they never really know where they'll feel like taking a nap or who might drop by unannounced.
As you can see, "This crescent moon for sleeping," as a Mexican poet sang, is an indispensable piece of furniture in any self-respecting traditional Mexican home.
